Rudy Rotter (American, 1913 - 2001) was a self-taught outsider artist in the small industrial town of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
This unique surreal piece combines figures from his cast of characters, with a floating torso. In the mid-1970's, the artist made hundreds of Japanese crayon drawings of elementary nude figure studies. Thus, his use of a floating figure is not as unusual as it might appear at first glance.
The artist created a large volume of artworks that sprang from the creative recesses of his imagination. No two pieces are exactly alike. All of the artist's body of work is easily identifiable as unique to his production.

re Condition: The art has been stored for decades in an unheated warehouse and is made from donated and scavenged common materials (a usual practice among self-taught artists). Therefore some pieces may show minor signs of age. In such instances, the affected part(s) will be displayed in separate close-up photos.
re UV: This artwork was made before the advent of fade-resistant magic markers. Therefore, if consistently displayed in strong daylight, the art should be framed using UV resistant plexiglass.
